Self-care can be divided into many sections, but here are the three main levels.
Basic survival or physiological needs – food, sleep, health, hygiene, hydration
Key social or psychological needs – relationships, belonging, trust, commitments
“Extra” self-actualisation needs – everything that makes you personally enjoy life more
To pamper yourself is to apply self-care on the “extra” level that’s not technically necessary for your survival, which is why so many people skip it.
“I already have all that I need.”
“I don’t want to spend money on me.”
“I’d rather look after my loved ones.”
These are some of the responses you might hear from friends and family members who are givers.
When you’re a giver, you forget that receiving is part of life, and that giving to yourself equals giving + receiving. It’s a win-win!
Simply by dedicating more time for yourself, you can shift your entire attitude to life from lack mindset to abundance mindset. As a result of honouring your self-actualisation needs, you become a more advanced and more fulfilled individual.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of pampering yourself?
