If your mind is chaotic, you can return to the present moment, practice mindfulness or even do a meditation to calm your thoughts.
But what do you do when your heart is full of chaos?
We experience emotional turbulence when we feel heavy emotions like anger, sadness or fear.
And when we can’t regulate those emotions, they confuse us, cloud our judgement and make us act “out of character”.
Often the best practice to handle heavy emotions is to actually allow yourself to feel them.
Just like thoughts, when we acknowledge emotions and experience them for a moment as soon as they arise, we free ourselves from carrying them with us for hours, days, months and sometimes years.
The more we act as proactive and gentle observers of our inner world, the more balanced our inner state becomes over time.
