There are three types of people in the world.

The first type cares so much about the impact they’re making, they don’t even have time to consider what others are saying or thinking in the background.

The second type is so focused on other people’s opinions, feelings and reactions that they forget about the impact they’re (supposed to be) making.

And there’s the third kind – the ones that have mastered the act of collaboration. These are the people who are considerate but firm with their actions. They know what they want and they are actively pursuing it, because they understand it’s going to benefit everyone, but they are taking into consideration all points of view throughout the journey.

Viewing yourself from the eyes of others is not just for the vain, it’s a useful exercise that can help you recognise both your strengths and blind spots.

If you’re unsure how people view you as an individual or as a collaborator, go and ask them.
