When love turns into obsession (“loving too much”) or neglect (“not loving enough”), it becomes unhealthy. It creates friction, distance, pressure, problems, trauma.

The love you give others is the same love you give to yourself.

If you get obsessed with looking after yourself at the cost of ignoring everything else, you lose the big picture. If you neglect yourself, so that you can look after everyone else, you lose yourself in the big picture.

How you practice self-love determines the quality of all of your relationships and therefore the quality of your life.

When you love yourself the right way, you won’t commit to things or people that make you feel bad, which is essentially what the secret to a good life is – enjoying every moment of it, because you know you’ve said “Yes” to all the right pursuits. This doesn’t mean that magically all the pain and difficulties go away, it just makes them easier to go through, because you’re in alignment with your values at all times.
