We often seek to find from others what we can give to ourselves. The truth, inner peace, growth, support, comfort, joy, love… understanding.
To feel understood is to give yourself permission to be just as you are without judgement.
To feel understood is to give yourself permission to move on from things, places and people that are no longer a match, since we are continuously changing.
To feel understood is to give yourself permission to feel a little bit lost from time to time while you’re trying to figure things out.
Understanding yourself starts from within, not from other people validating you (including your thoughts, emotions, ideas, interests) or explaining to you who you’re supposed to be.
Yes, other people can coach us and give us advice on how to structure our life.
But the vision of the life you want to lead is entirely yours and it is entirely up to you to spend time getting to know that vision, so that you can bring it to life with the tools available and the advice from others who have already succeeded in doing so.
