We’re often so preoccupied with Life (due to productivity pursuits or giving in to distractions) that we have to schedule our time off, otherwise we’ll forget to take regular breaks to rest.
Our most natural self-preservation instinct – to sleep as a way to restore our mind and body, has been somewhat disabled by the constant messages in society to “do more”, “have more” and “consume more”.
This is not only destructive to our immune system, but it also affects our ability to be at peace in our own body and mind, since we’re continuously living in survival mode.
I’d like to challenge you to find a place in your home, or even better – out in nature, where you can take a break every single day for the next 30 days.
This can be a 5-minute break or a 30-minute break (or longer).
It can be a reading break, a podcast break or a break for meditation.
Selecting a place where you can go for a wellbeing break that’s in your natural environment will make it easier to re-add the habit of resting to your daily routine. This in turn will help you improve your work-life balance!
