#102
When we are children, we do what we are told, because we trust that our parents know what’s best for us. As we grow up, we discover new possibilities and opportunities, which sometimes go against what our parents – and those closest to us – would like us to do.
The more we spend time getting to know how different decisions make us feel, the more we grow comfortable making those decisions and sticking to them.
Here’s the tricky part…
Just because a decision is your own, it doesn’t mean that it’s always the best one. It might have been the best choice at the time, but today there might be other choices available that weren’t available in the past.
Whether we listen to our own intuition, to our parents, partner or friends, it’s useful to take time to reflect on our life as often as possible, so that we can always recognise the opportunities to change our circumstances for the better.
There’s a reason today’s question is not “What’s one thing you should give up?”, but “What’s one thing you want to give up?”.
You already know the answer if there’s something that no longer fits your life and no longer makes you happy. And if you’re worried about how people are going to react, remember that we’re here for a very short period of time and we each deserve to be thrilled to be alive every single day. Because when we’re full of energy, we get to share more of that energy with others.
