Would you be happy if you didn’t have a TV (item), a friend (person), or the chance to read (activity)?
What if the TV only displayed channels in a language that you didn’t know, and your friend was actually in a secret competition with you, and the books all had the same storyline with different characters?
When we assign the task of being happy to external sources (items, people, activities), we are saying to the Universe and to ourselves that we are not (good) enough on our own to be happy.
This mindset can cause us a lot of unnecessary irritation, pain and disappointments in life.
Happiness starts from within. It is then enhanced by items, shared and multiplied with people, increased by activities that bring us excitement or decreased by activities that are not fulfilling.
Gratitude is a great way to awaken your own inner source of happiness.
