Let’s do a time travel exercise.

The year’s 2050. What do you see?

Has technology taken over the world? Are there AI robots assisting humans?

What about nature – are there parks full of flowers and bees? Can you hear the birds chirping?

Are people working hard or hardly working? Is there laughter? Smiles?

Are there flying cars? Drones that carry your grocery bags? Perhaps everyone gets a comfy hover chair that can take them everywhere? Yes, this is a WALL·E reference!

Can we travel to Mars? To the Moon? Or maybe to North Korea?

Are there wars? Or do you see a future of complete peace and harmony?

Have we invented actual time travel by 2050? Can we re-live our memories in VR? Can we predict the success of a relationship by simply playing a simulation game?

There have been a lot of smart guesses in films and TV series about the future. While most of them hint at a dystopian world, it is useful to remember that we have the power to choose:

  • how we use the technological advances that are available to us today

  • how we treat nature and every other available natural resource

  • how we apply our talents and skills to impact the world

  • how we look after ourselves and those we care about

We can use software to create a new world or break the current one.

We can apply our knowledge to lead a change that will benefit everyone or manipulate the circumstances to benefit our own needs.

We can learn from the mistakes of the past and break the cycles, or continue to live without ever reaching our full potential of being abundant, joyful and generous human beings.

The choice is ours today. The question is what kind of world do you want to see in 2050? And what kind of version of yourself do you want to be by 2050?
