Lunch is the second most important meal of the day after breakfast. Yet we often rush through the morning hours, unable to enjoy either of the two meals.

Whether it’s work or family responsibilities, we feel called to prioritise other people’s needs above our own. But remember what happens when we do that for a long time – our energy reserves get depleted and we have less to give to others.

Think of lunch as your second chance to tap into your natural power and come back to the present moment. All you need to do is slow down, get some healthy food and appreciate the moment (away from distractions, tasks, goals, planning, etc).

A good lunch break allows you to step away from your morning window of productivity and get ready for the afternoon window of productivity.

Since food’s the fuel for the body, what you consume for lunch is important. But what’s even more important is setting the intention that you will actually take your lunch break every day.

With that in mind, what does the ideal lunch break look like?

Can you afford to have it once or twice a week?

Perhaps it’s a homemade sandwich and a long walk?

A quick workout followed by a bite on the go?

Or a fancy 2-course meal at a nearby restaurant?

Are you alone or are you sharing your lunch break with colleagues / friends?

Or is the ideal lunch break about making more meaningful memories with your family if you are working from home?

Every choice offers you a chance to be more conscious about the life you want to live. Make time to reflect and look within as often as possible, so that over time what you see outside becomes the life of your dreams – one lunch break at a time!
