Some mornings don’t go according to plan.
Remember the saying “life happens when you make plans”?
There’s another saying that’s quite fitting for those mornings – “It is what it is”.
Some mornings…
the alarm doesn’t go off (in other words, you don't hear it)
you wake up exhausted and unmotivated
the traffic is worse than usual
there’s an emergency that requires your attention before any priorities you might have for the day.
And the list goes on.
What do you do when life happens and it doesn’t happen according to your plan?
You adapt.
You go with the flow.
You remain positive and make the best of it.
You go off script.
You improvise while trusting your abilities to handle whatever comes your way.
Once the day settles in and things calm down, you come back to your list of priorities. It’s as simple as that.
If I woke up 30 minutes earlier today, I might have had the time to finish today’s post in the morning, or not. I might have been on time for my first meeting of the day, or not. I might have had a bigger breakfast, or not.
But who’s to say that I wasn’t on time, just because I arrived later than I had planned?
The world’s bigger than our plans. There’s an invisible network that connects all of us.
Every now and then life will find a way to delay us because we’re meant to take the detour and learn something from it.
There are two questions to answer before you get back to today’s growth challenge:
Are you paying attention to the present moment? (every detour is part of the journey)
Have you learned the ultimate lesson that fully surrendering to the present moment is the only way to make the most of every day? (once you’ve done some of the planning, of course – balance is key)
So if you had 30 extra minutes today, what would you do differently? And who’s to say that you don’t still have these 30 extra minutes…
