People often dream of winning the lottery, but they don’t even buy a lottery ticket.
When we imagine the best case scenario without taking any action in the direction of our dreams, we feel like life is out of our hands. In a way, that’s true. Until we take full accountability for our thoughts, feelings and actions, life will seemingly happen to us and not for us.
But instead of rushing blindly forward, let’s take a couple of steps back.
Winning the lottery might seem like the ultimate dream, but is that your dream?
There are two parts to the question you shouldn’t ignore:
“What’s the best thing that could happen to you right now?”
When we begin to imagine amazing stuff happening to us, the first thoughts that pop up in our mind are those everyone is thinking about. They are usually the stuff that will “impress” other people, from physical possessions to huge opportunities and fancy experiences.
Do me a favour: think about what will impress you!
What will make your inner child extremely happy and proud of you?
The goal of living well is not only to keep expanding your comfort zone and sharing meaningful moments with others, but to do things that make you personally excited to be alive.
When you next set your goals, think about what achievements will make you feel so happy that you can dance in the middle of the living room. Then transfer some of those emotions to the weekly and daily tasks you have on your list(s).
We spend a lot of our adult time working. When that time is aligned with our vision for the future, we are always one step away from making our wildest dreams come true.
