We often use mantras for success to get us hyped about doing the work and help us fall in love with the process. Those statements, as you might imagine, are designed to get you to power through the difficulties and face challenges like a warrior.

Here’s the tricky part. The more you believe in the warrior mentality, the more likely you are to lose your balance in the long run.

Why? Because when we learn to live with the “pain” in order to get the gains, it’s easy to miss the cues when it’s time to take a break.

So the question is do you know your boundaries? And if so, do you have a self-care mantra to help you to honour them?

Your self-care mantra can be a reactive statement, such as:

  • “I rest when I feel overwhelmed”

  • “I know it’s time to take a break when I experience brain fog”

  • “When I get cynical and short-tempered, I need more meaningful time with my loved ones”

You can be proactive with your self-care attitude, too. For example,

  • “Sleep is a key ingredient for my success”

  • “A good life is a life spent in laughter”

  • “I enjoy my alone time because it allows me to recharge my batteries”

Self-care mantras remind you to break free from periods of tunnel vision and come back to a more balanced state of mind, so that you can view the bigger picture with more clarity.

Your life is the sum of many aspects – making time for each one with more intention will help you stay grounded in the present moment and be the best version of yourself daily.

Life is meant to be a thrilling, fulfilling experience every single day. We can focus on the losses and what’s missing, or choose to appreciate the abundance that’s already here.

The choice is entirely up to us.
