Our value is not measured by how productive, successful or amazing we are on any given day. However, we tend to feel bad about ourselves when we can’t perform or deliver results in a way that matches our expectations.

Expectations get in the way of our happiness and inner peace. But what comes before them?

Often nothing. And that’s the problem.

When we form connections with others, we communicate our needs and thoughts to maintain healthy relationships. We understand that communicating on a daily basis with our closest friends and family members is not only essential, but it helps us strengthen the bond with one another.

But we often neglect the relationship with our inner self. This causes us to jump right into the zone of expectations without knowing how we’re actually feeling and what we’re aiming to achieve. So we fall into the trap of guilt-tripping ourselves.

Daily inner check-ins help you figure out your inner state, so that you can make the most of your energy levels.

Doing your best might look completely different every single day.

We are the sum of all of our qualities, skills and hidden talents. Before you set your intentions and expectations for the day, take time for an inner check-in to make sure you’re not working against yourself.

Answer these 3 questions for a quick daily check-in:

  1. What do I have more energy for – physical or mental work? If the answer is physical work, then you probably have some energy trapped in your body that needs releasing before you can dive into deep thinking mode.

  2. Do I feel more introverted or extroverted? If the answer is introverted, then you probably have been giving to others a lot more attention than you have been giving to yourself, so you need to apply some self-care to restore the internal balance.

  3. What’s one thing I can do right now that will boost my energy? An instant win will help you approach the day with more gratitude. This could be a cup of coffee, a short walk, a message to a loved one, listening to a podcast episode or reading a chapter from a book you’ve been excited to begin.

Your relationship with yourself will set the tone for all other relationships in your life. The more you look after yourself, the more you will value the rest of your partnerships and bring your best self to everything you do.
