When we practice gratitude, we can look within for reasons to be content and at peace, or we can look around us and count our blessings. Either option works. The problem is we rarely make time to do that!

To be in a state of gratitude for the most seemingly trivial things, such as a pen that you can write notes with or a glass of water that helps your body stay healthy, is one of the most transformational ways of thinking.

Why?

Everything around you becomes a source of joy (and in the process you rediscover the value of the little things).

Look around you and name 5 things that make your life better now.

You'd be surprised at how easy it is to find those items, and even more surprised to discover that the more actively you look for reasons to be content and at peace, the more you will recognise them wherever you go.

When the reasons to be happy replace the thoughts of lack, loss or limitation, suddenly the complaining, the overthinking, the anxiety, the worries, the fears – they all disappear.

Why?

They were never a source of truth. They were never facts. They were merely a possibility that was born out of lack mindset.

When you adopt gratitude as a daily practice, you learn to slow down (your nervous system).

When you slow down, you understand that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be with the exact knowledge and skills you need to lead a healthy, fulfilling, successful life.

If you need one central reason to re-boot your gratitude mindset, it’s easy. Pick your favourite person. Or take a moment to appreciate the fact that you’re alive and therefore have a chance to dream and accomplish all of your dreams!
