When weโre kids, we want to impress our parents.
When we become teenagers, we try to impress our friends.
When we turn adults, we have a choice: continue the pursuit of impressing others or focus our efforts on impressing ourselves.
Receiving support and recognition from others is valuable, but it will always feel short-lived if you donโt feel the same level of appreciation for your own progress.
Itโs noble for a parent to want to set a great example to their kids, or for partners to want to uplift one another by continually surpassing each otherโs expectations, but remember that self-love is the strongest foundation for forming deep, mutually impactful connections with others.
