5 Positive Affirmations To Advance Your Personal Growth

There are two things I love about positive affirmations:

  1. The bring you positive attitude even if you’re going through a difficult time.

  2. They bring you to the present moment and help you feel lighter, especially if you’ve been feeling the effects of lingering for too long in the past (anxiety, stress) or worrying too much about the future (fear).

Positive affirmations are not just for the yoga mat.

You can use these short sentences throughout the day whenever you want to understand yourself better and advance your personal growth.

Let me know how it goes!

1. "I AM EXACTLY WHERE I AM SUPPOSED TO BE."

The only moment that we have is the present moment. Yet even in moments of making great progress towards our current goals, we like to make frequent visits in the past.

Whether to revisit favourite moments, replay missed opportunities or consider alternative choices, this takes energy away from the present moment.

When we remind ourselves that we are “exactly where we are supposed to be”, this brings us back into the present moment and helps us to appreciate even more the journey (not just the destination).

2. "I TRUST THE PROCESS. I TRUST MYSELF."

Something happens when we begin to work hard to improve our life. We are met with a concept defined by Seth Godin as the great “Resistance”.

The resistance appears, because our Ego doesn’t like to be challenged. It fears you will no longer need it, so it tries to keep you for as long as it can in the comfort zone.

Here’s the thing though… Growth lies outside of your comfort zone.

So next time the resistance shows up and tries to persuade you to “not do the workout”, “not listen to the podcast episode” or “not eat the healthy food”, remind yourself that you trust not only the process, but also yourself (as the creator of your destiny).

3. "THERE’S A LESSON IN EVERY CHALLENGE. WHAT IS THIS TEACHING ME?"

Curiosity is a powerful ingredient to the lifestyle of most successful people. But it’s not just books and podcasts that can teach us lessons. In fact, the knowledge that we need to succeed is probably already hidden within us.

We each cary infinite amounts of wisdom, but we’re so busy in our schedule packed with goals, meetings and responsibilities that we rarely have time to spend enough time in silence and listen.

If you’re going through a difficult period, instead of turning to other people’s advice — sit down and meditate. Allow yourself to explore what’s going on inside of you and why the external world has given you this challenge.

4. "I AM PROUD OF MYSELF."

If it’s been a while since someone told you “Great work” or “You’re doing an amazing job”, then it’s time to have a one to one with yourself.

A simple “I am proud of myself” can do wonders to our inner strength.

5. "I HONOUR MY NEEDS. WHAT DO I NEED RIGHT NOW?"

You can’t take care of the world before you take care of yourself. There’s a reason we are told to put our oxygen mask first in case of an emergency.

Self-care needs to be your number one priority when you have big goals and wish to execute them quickly.

So today ask yourself what is it that you truly need in order to become the best version of yourself while you continue to complete your gigantic list of goals!
