To experience an emotional trigger is to discover a wound deep inside of you – a wound that formed because someone “stabbed” you with an invisible dagger by betraying your trust in one way or another.

The wound is invisible, but the pain is real. The wound remains open until you’re ready to acknowledge the “betrayal” and the trauma that you experienced. It’s the only way you can fully integrate the pain as part of the past and move on from it.

Until then, you will continue to experience emotional triggers out of the blue. And when you do, it’s like you’re getting “stabbed” all over again in the exact same invisible spot.

Emotion is energy in motion. We’re emotional creatures as much as we are thinking beings.

When we are unable to let emotions flow freely, they get blocked inside of us, which keeps us from truly experiencing life in the present moment.

Why?

Blocked emotions keep our energy tied to the past – a past that no longer exists anywhere else but in your mind. Many of us are trapped in our minds entirely because we’re reliving the pain of the past by intellectualising it and adding reason to it.

Emotions don’t need reason. They need to be felt in order to be released and allowed to flow freely.
